The Fountain of Youth is Water

Too often we forget that the best way to stay healthy is to drink water! Too often people would rather go for a more sugary alternative to drink when they feel thirsty, but don’t realize that water is important for our overall health. Water is crucial to our biological make up and our lives depend on it. However, many still neglect the health benefits of water. The standard daily intake of regular drinking water is 8 ounce glasses of water per day. While it may seem a lot, it is a target we should all strive for. Water keeps your muscles hydrated and helps your body stay active and feel alert. Water keeps your skin hydrated and reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, break outs or blemishes. Water keeps your skin glowing and will give you that extra pep in your step!
So stay hydrated and share the secrets to the fountain of youth!

  1. Eat it Up!
    o Watermelon is made up of 92% water.
    o Celery is made up of 95% water.
    o Cucumbers are made up of 96% water.
    o Strawberries are made up of 92% water.
  2. Drink it Up!
    o Fat-Free or Skim Milk is a good option for rehydration & recovery after exercise.
    o Coconut water is rich in potassium & low in carbohydrates.
    o Sports drinks bring your body back to balance faster than water after exercise.
  3. Drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up!
  4. Have a glass of water before each meal.
  5. Add a slice of lemon, basil, or cucumbers to spice up your water!
  6. After each trip to the restroom, drink a glass of water to replenish your body.
  7. Purchase a reusable water bottle so you can drink water wherever or whenever you are.
  8. Set a timer to remind yourself to drink a glass of water.
    Symptoms of dehydration:
  9. Dry, sticky mouth
  10. Thirsty
  11. Dark colored urine
  12. Dizziness
  13. Fatigue
  14. Fever, heat exposure
