It was Tender Home Health’s second year at the Annual National Home Care and Hospice Conference and Expo it was as great an experience as it was the first. The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) did a fantastic job of ensuring we looked to the future to navigate through the upcoming changes. Here are our top 5 takeaways from the conference.
1 Inform all agency employees of the PDGM
A simple piece of advice, but it could help your organization successfully navigate through the new change. Although it may seem like the only people who need to know are those directly involved, it’s helpful for everyone to understand what the changes include and what the agency is doing to adapt.
2 Keep your revenue sources open
The next few months will be difficult, so it’s important to have the line of credit or other revenue sources open to help with the PDGM payment changes. 3 Research mergers and acquisitions
It’s important to keep your options open especially with big hitters like Amazon getting into the industry. Although it may not be your main objective, it’s great to stay informed and understand what your options are.
4 Keep your entire contact list close
Our contacts have stayed local in California, but after our first NAHC experience, we now understand how crucial it is to stay in contact with people in all parts of the industry – Providers and vendors alike. The networking opportunities at the conference were a gain on its own, so it’s important to utilize the social events to your advantage. We were able to connect with vendors and other providers that we met the year before, and it was great to re-connect and learn.
5 Stay current
The conference was aimed at looking to the future and the expo showed all of the benefits of really tapping into the technological side of home care. From software developments to portals for physician signatures, it’s good to learn about what’s out there to help your agency run effectively.
Thank you, NAHC for another great conference. We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with next year!
