Tips on Ordering Medication Online

Purchasing medication online can be a bit scary. There are plenty of fake pharmacies out there that sell fake drugs. Yet, we shouldn’t let these bad apples deter us from the convenience of buying meds online. Our steps below will help you purchase medication online safely.

1.Research the Source

It is critical that you research the website you are purchasing the medication from. Follow these tips:
•Ensure that the website is from a licensed pharmacy in the United States
•The website should require a prescription from a licensed health care professional
•Look for the VIPPS (Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites) Seal
•The site should make you submit a detailed medical history
•The most trusted sites are sites that end in .gov or .edu

2.Check Medication

Once you receive the medication, carefully inspect it. Validate that:
•The package is intact and has not been tampered with
•The color, size and shape of the drug is similar to what you would normally get
•The name of the medication and dosage matches the prescription
•The expiration date is clearly listed
•Your name is correct

3.Talk to a Health Professional

As discussed above, there are many sites that engage in fraudulent activities by selling medication that is not FDA approved. Be cautious of any drugs that seem to good to be true such as weight loss drugs, hair restoration, etc. If you are unsure if a medication is safe or does what it states, contact your physician and get his/her opinion. They will tell you any known risks and should be able to note any reputable studies.
